FAQ’s

What happened to REC’s?

Well REC’s are now STC’s (Small Scale Technology Credits) and the news is all good for you as the consumer as rebates should now be more streamlined and easy to understand…….As many of you will know REC’s (renewable energy credits) used to be a ever changing price & got very low indeed in December, but as of Jan 1st under the new Small Scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) they are now a fixed price of $40,which in simple terms means significantly higher rebates available & therefore cheaper out of pocket purchase costs for you. And it’s now much easier for us Solar Energy companies to give accurate quotes in advance, so everyone is happy!

The only slight confusion is that somebody decided that REC’s should now be renamed STC’s under the new scheme, but to all intents and purposes the system will continue to work the same.

For those of you who really understand the nitty-gritty of how the government rebates operate, the solar multiplier will drop from 5 to 4 on the 1st of July, so things will get dearer again then, approx $1295 on a mid size system, but why would you wait another 6 months anyway to install a Solar Energy PV Grid or Hotwater system when electricity prices are continuing to rise and Solar has become a really affordable alternative!
