New Solar PV Grid Installation Costs
Energex and Ergon Energy have released a joint set of new service and installation rules called the Queensland Electricity Connection and Metering Manual (QECMM), that will require the installation of a suitable isolation link or circuit breaker as well as the correct “meter before main switch” wiring on all Solar PV Grid Installations after July 1st 2010.
Unfortunately this now means some extra work on the part of our Electrical Sub Contractors is required when doing our customers installations, and an increased charge as a consequence which we will have to pass onto you the consumer.
There is quite a price range of what that extra cost will be, depending on the current switchboard that you have and if it requires a full upgrade or not, which can only be assertained from an onsite inspection.
This will be done as a routine part of any new quotes that we supply now, but for existing quotes that have yet to be installed, these new requirements will add from $50 – $600 to the price of your installation.
We thank you for your understanding in regard to these new regulations & associated costs which are beyond our control, but will make for further improved standards within the Solar Industry from now on.
